The Kaluga Electronic Components Plant (Avtoelektronika) was founded on August 22, 1990 on the basis of the design engineering electronic bureau and workshop № 8 of the Kaluga Automotive Electrical Equipment Plant (KZAME), established in 1941. In November 1992, Avtoelektronika was reorganized into a joint stock company.     


In 1998, the company had implemented the Quality Management System and certified it with the help of RWTÜV in compliance with the requirements of ISО 9001:94. In 1999, JSC Avtoelektronika got the national certificate of Quality Management System in compliance with GOST R ISO 9001-96.

 
 
As a result of performance in 1999, JSC AVTOVAZ and JSC GAZ had appreciated JSC Avtoelektronika as the best supplier of electrical equipment. Also, JSC Avtoelektronika won the contests “100 best goods of Russia” and “100+1 best goods of Kaluga region”.

In January 2000, the Prime Minister of Russia V.V. Putin had addressed a letter to JSC Avtoelektronika and all staff with appreciation of company’s significant work and achievements. As a result of assessment by Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kaluga region, JSC Avtoelektronika gained the certificate of business reliability, attestation and passport of business unit.   

As a result of performance in 2000, JSC Avtoelektronika was again appreciated as the best supplier of electrical equipment to JSC AVTOVAZ and JSC GAZ. At the regional contest “100+1 best goods of Kaluga region”, JSC Avtoelektronika had presented engine control units for AVTOVAZ and GAZ vehicles and became the winner again.

In 2000, NPP AVTEL LTD and NPP ELCAR LTD were founded by JSC Avtoelektronika. NPP AVTEL LTD was the specialist in design, production and supplies of components for electronic fuel control systems and ignition of combustion engines.         

In 2003, the existing Quality Management System had been improved and recertified in compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Same year, JSC Avtoelektronika participated in the All-Russian contest “Best Russian Companies” and won in the nomination “The most efficient use of all production resources”. The winner was awarded with a diploma and a prize medal.
   
In 2004, as a result of recertification audit, the company gained the certificate of ISO 9001-2001. The Electromechanical Power Steering designed by JSC Avtoelektronika has been awarded with a silver medal at the IV Moscow International Salon of Innovations and Investments.       

In 2004, the holding “Management Company Avtoelektronika LLC” was established, comprising of subsidiaries and joint ventures such as JSC Avtoelektronika, NPP AVTEL LTD., JSC INSEL, Genser-Kaluga Ltd., Bank of Kaluga, commercial farms Gremyachevo and Korekozevo, CJSC Food Standard, recreation camps Lavrovo-Pesochnya and Avtoiskra. The holding ranked the top five largest companies in Kaluga region.              

In 2005, the top management of the company had made a decision to certify the Quality Management System in compliance with the requirements of ISO/TS 16949:2002, thus the working group was created and a work program was developed to upgrade the Quality Management System.       

In 2006, the company TÜV CERT ran the second certification audit at the JSC Avtoelektronika which confirmed the Quality Management System compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. 

In 2007, JSC Avtoelektronika became the winner of the regional contest “The Best Companies of Kaluga region” in the nomination “The Most Dynamic Development”. That year the production volume had passed a milestone of 1 billion rubles, it was more than 2.2 times higher than the previous year. Same year JSC Avtoelektronika came out on top in the contests “100 best goods of Russia” and “100+1 best goods of Kaluga region” in the nomination “Products for industrial and technical use”, presenting the Electromechanical Power Steering designed for AVTOVAZ vehicles.   
In 2008, after the recertification audit run by the certification body TÜV CERT of the company TÜV SUD (the Slovak Republic), the company got the certificate of Quality Management System compliance with the requirements of ISO/TS 16949. As a result of performance in 2008, JSC Avtoelektronika became the winner at the regional contest “The Best Companies of Kaluga region” in the nomination “The Most Dynamic Development.”

In 2011, the company gained the certificates of Quality Management System compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/TS 16949:2009.

As a result of performance in 2012, JSC Avtoelektronika has been appreciated as the “Reliable Supplier” in the group of companies supplying electrical equipment to JSC AVTOVAZ. Also, JSC Avtoelektronika had won the Quality Award of Kaluga Government and was rewarded with the I grade Diploma and the Cup presented personally by the Governor of Kaluga region.

In 2015, JSC Avtoelektronika had signed an agreement with the Clarion Co., Ltd (Japan) and Hitachi High-Technologies RUS, LLC on the contract production of telematic control units (TCU) at the company’s facilities in Kaluga. The production involves SKD assembly according to design of Clarion Co., Ltd (Japan), with further supplies to Ford Sollers factories on the territory of the Russian Federation.

In 2016, JSC Avtoelektronika upgraded its equipment stock and started the production of TCU.

In 2017, the company has changed its legal form due to the changes in the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.

In 2018, after passing the recertification audit run by the certification body "United Registrar of Systems", the company has gained certificates of Quality Management System compliance with requirements of IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015.
